Hey Babes, It’s been a while since I brought you my latest beauty and skincare craves and faves – sooo, I thought I’d give you the run down – maybe it’s a little business-y – of a few brands I’ve been watching lately… You all know that skincare and wellness are my absolute favorite verticals to explore. I'm always on the lookout for new brands that can elevate our beauty game, and I'm excited to share with you some of the hottest direct-to-consumer (DTC) beauty brands to watch in 2023.

First up, we have The Ordinary.

This brand has disrupted the market with its affordable and ingredient-focused approach. Their products are straightforward and perfect for science nerds like me. The Ordinary uses straightforward #science and #chemistry to deliver potent and effective skincare, and their transparency and education make it easy for us to understand complex skincare ingredients (for those that aren’t supernerds). Plus, their prices won't break the bank. Trust me, your face and wallet will thank you. And a hot tip for you, the multi-peptide lash+brow serum is just as, if not more effective than Latisse, Grande Lash, R+F Lashboost, and it's only $14.50!

Next, we have K18.

This brand is the perfect mix of tech and beauty, and their products are revolutionary. When my hairdresser recommended K18, I immediately fell in love with their Leave-in Molecular Repair hair mask. The results were simply amazing, and I didn't even need to use a conditioner. It's no wonder the brand has taken the haircare industry by storm.

Glossier is another brand on our list, and their minimalist packaging and natural-looking makeup have earned them a cult following among millennials and Gen Z. The brand's emphasis on individuality and inclusivity make it a standout in the beauty market. I love how they create a personalized, customer-focused experience, both in-store and online. Glossier's emphasis on inclusivity and individuality will continue to resonate with customers who seek authenticity and connection with the brands they support. Product to try for oily or acne prone skin: The exfoliating skin perfector

Drunk Elephant has been a pioneer in the clean beauty movement, offering effective skincare products without harmful ingredients. Their commitment to sustainability and inclusivity has also been a key factor in their success, along with their creative, colorful, and playful packaging. In 2023, we expect to see these values become even more critical for beauty brands as customers demand transparency and eco-conscious solutions.

Huda Beauty is another brand on our list that has made a significant impact in the beauty industry with their bold colors and innovative products. The brand's founder, Huda Kattan, is a makeup artist turned influencer turned entrepreneur. What sets Huda Beauty apart is its focus on creating products that are both innovative and practical, helping customers achieve the looks they want with ease.

Now for the Celebrity crush - Sunday Riley is a skincare brand that prioritizes science and efficacy above all else. Their high-performance formulas have earned them a devoted following among beauty insiders and celebrities. As customers increasingly demand science-backed and results-driven skincare products, Sunday Riley is a brand to watch in 2023 and beyond. The fan favorite, that everyone is going ga-ga over: The wish we all had 'em, but if we don't we have Sunday Riley's Good Genes Serum! This is a miracle worker, y'all!

founded by the one and only Rihanna in 2017 and 2020, respectively. These brands have taken the beauty industry by storm with their inclusive approach to makeup and skincare. Fenty Beauty's bold colors and celebrity endorsements have made it a cultural phenomenon, while Fenty Skin's high-quality, effective, and inclusive skincare products have quickly gained a reputation for excellence. Rihanna has been recognized for her innovation and customer-focused approach, earning her the Music to Mogul Award of the Year. With her commitment to inclusivity and representation, Rihanna has created a brand that speaks to people of all skin tones and types. Whether you're looking for a bold lip or a glowing complexion, Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin have got you covered. Do I have a favorite? Uhhh, there are too many to choose from, but we all know your girl loves a bright lip shade - so I am deeply digging all these luscious lip candies!

Topicals is a skincare brand that is all about inclusivity and representation. Their products are designed specifically for people with skin tones higher on the Fitzpatrick scale – aka – darker, more pigmented skin. I love their playful and retro-looking packaging, and the minds advising the brand are an absolute powerhouse from science to DE&I, paving a new and better path to skincare that thinks of it all. In 2023, we expect Topicals to continue to disrupt the beauty industry with its innovative and thoughful approach to skincare.

Last but not least, Youth to the People is a clean skincare brand that is all about sustainability and effectiveness. Their vegan and cruelty-free products are packed with superfoods and other natural ingredients to deliver real results. What sets Youth to the People apart is their mission to create clean, effective, and sustainable skincare products that are accessible to all. Their sustainability efforts, such as using recycled materials in their packaging, have also helped cement their place as a leader in the sustainable beauty space. But it's not just about sustainability - Youth to the People also has some seriously effective skincare products.

featuring kale and spinach extracts, is a fan favorite for its gentle cleansing abilities. The brand's Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream and Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial have also received rave reviews for their effectiveness. And for my latest love: Retinal + Niacinamide Youth Serum - this stuff is the OTC of Retinols - potent and effective AF! If you're looking for a brand that prioritizes both sustainability and efficacy, Youth to the People should definitely be on your radar.

So, what are you waiting for? It's time to upgrade your skincare game with some of the most innovative, sustainable, and inclusive DTC beauty brands out there. Trust me, your skin will thank you, and your wallet will too (hello, affordable prices!).

From The Ordinary's no-nonsense approach to K18's revolutionary haircare products, and Glossier's cult following, to Fenty Beauty's inclusivity and Youth to the People's sustainability mission, these brands are not to be missed.

And don't forget about Topicals, with its focus on effective, solution-focused formulations for more pigmented skin tones, and Sunday Riley's science-backed and results-driven skincare products. These brands have all demonstrated a strong message, mission, and efficacy behind their products, making them fan-favorites in the DTC beauty market.

As a fellow Millennial-adjacent (otherwise known as the Micro-generation: Xennial “X” for a reason), I know the importance of having a personalized, customer-focused experience when it comes to my skincare routine, as well as the importance of efficacy. That's why I'm excited to see what's next for the DTC beauty market and how these innovative brands will continue to shape the industry in the days to come.

So, go ahead and treat yourself to some of these amazing products, and let me know which ones are your favorites. Cheers to elevating our skincare game in 2023!
